An adorable video that shows a monkey’s reaction after failing to scare aware tourists is raking in likes. The undated video shows tourists standing next to a monkey who is perched on a railing. The tourist stands close to the wild animal and poses for the photos, the monkey latches on the arm of one tourist and pretends to bite him but the tourist stands unfazed and continues posing. The monkey looks confused and disappointed by the man’s nonchalant reaction and its face visibly drops down in disappointment. In the video, another man poses next to the monkey and this time the monkey just rests its head on the railing as the man gently pats it.

The money in the video appears to be a Tibetan Macaque. It is unclear when and where this video was shot. It was posted on Instagram on January 22. So far, the clip has gathered over 13 lakh likes.

Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Hence proven animals don’t attack unless they feel fear." Another tried to interpret the monkey’s behavior and asserted, “Homie was scared cause he thought he was gonna get pushed so he tried to protect himself when he realised human only had good intentions he felt nothing but shame for his previous aggressive actions."

A user wondered if the monkey in the above-mentioned video is Xing Xing. Monkey Xing Xang was rescued and raised by a Buddhist nun at a temple in China’s Zhejiang Province. Thinking that it’s Xing Xing, the Instagram user commented, “If I’m not wrong. This is the same monkey that lost an arm and is getting taken care of by an old lady living in this tourist area. The monkey doesn’t trust people, since it was abused. It even bites the old lady sometimes out of fear. So the tourists constantly trying to take pics of the monkey kinda infuriate me. But at least this guy was not acting like most others I have seen. He just stood near it and chilled. Rather than grab it, poke it, and stress it out."

In 2021, Xing Xing gained much popularity on Chinese social media platforms and started attracting hordes of visitors to the Chen Yang Hou Temple in Ningbo.

Report suggests, the Tibetan Macaque monkey lost one arm in a wild boar trap and was later sold to a circus. The circus then sold Xing Xing to a restaurant where it could entertain the guests but the restaurant also abandoned the monkey. Eventually, the 23-year-old elderly money was taken under the care of a nun and began residing at the temple with her.
