Many of us would be frightened if we saw snakes anywhere near us and would indulge in every endeavour to protect ourselves from them. To accomplish this objective, we can use the smells of some substances to ward off the serpents. A social media user wanted to know about these substances and posed a question regarding this on the Quora website. One of the persons replied that the Kerosene Oil can act as a deterrent against such reptiles. A website named A-Z Animals came up with the names of more such substances that act as an effective remedy against snakes. These food products are garlic, onion, mint, cloves, basil, cinnamon, vinegar, lemon and most prominently, ammonia gas. In a few instances, smoke also acts as a deterrent against the snakes. Information on the Northwest portal has also suggested ways to use these products as snake repellents.
1. Cloves and Cinnamon Oil: Cloves and cinnamon oil should be mixed in a spray bottle and sprayed directly on snakes for maximum effect. This method should be used with caution, as snakes will often run in the opposite direction of the spray. This mixture can also be used in a diffuser indoors as a fumigant. 3.Ammonia : Snakes dislike the smell of ammonia and it is thus advised to spray it around any affected areas. Another way is to soak a rag in ammonia and place it in an unsealed bag near any areas inhabited by snakes to ward them away.
