The India Men’s Hockey team faces their next big test as they take on Germany in the semi-final match on Tuesday. The side led by Harmanpreet Singh will hope to put their best foot forward to hopefully take the victory.
A win in the semi-final will confirm at least a silver medal for the Indian team. They last were runners-up at the quadrennial event in the 1960 games that took place in Rome.
The Indian hockey team were able to bring home the gold medal 44 years ago at the Moscow games but the ongoing Olympics will be a great opportunity for the current team to go all the way.
Among India’s notable performers include the veteran goalkeeper, PR Sreejesh who is nicknamed, ‘The Great Wall of India Hockey’, who produced a heroic performance in the quarterfinal against Great Britain despite being down by one man.
The defender and first rusher, Amit Rohidas had picked up a red card in their previous game and is confirmed to miss out on the semi-final clash against Germany
The Indian team have not let their setbacks get the better of them and the Harmanpreet Singh-led side will hope that they can come together to put up yet another massive performance against the three-time Olympic Gold medalist in Germany to take them one step away from a possible gold.
