Last month, Kuala Lumpur welcomed Malaysia’s inaugural Apple Store, drawing a crowd of tech enthusiasts. The store with its distinctive glass pyramid design made a notable debut. However, Apple’s grand opening did not escape the notice of its primary competitor, Samsung. In a playful manoeuvre, Samsung reportedly secured the naming rights for the train station closest to TRX mall, where the Apple store is located and renamed it the Samsung Galaxy Station. Not just this, Samsung adorned the station with their advertisements, ensuring that shoppers en route to the Apple Store first encounter a barrage of bold Samsung promotions on elevators, stairs and escalators
A content creator recorded this in a video and shared, “You won’t believe what Samsung did after Apple opened its first Apple store in the country. So the exact metro station where the new Apple store opened, Samsung responded back by completely filling the station with Samsung Ads. I’ve never seen so many Samsung ads before in one place. It’s even on the lifts, on the stairs and on the escalator. It has completely taken over the station and the craziest thing is the station even got renamed to Samsung galaxy station. So if you want go to the apple store, you get off at the Samsung galaxy station and have to walk past all these Samsung ads first.”
Reacting to the rivalry, a user wrote, “Renaming the station is CRAZY.”
Another shared, “Samsung literally bullied Apple, I like it.”
“War was waged. Samsung brought missiles to a gunfight,” a comment read.
Another wrote, “As an Apple user that was wild. Do it again, Samsung.”
An individual shared, “Apple deserves this kind of competition from Samsung, it’s time they got off their high horse.”
“That’s so funny,” another comment read.
Since the video was shared on Instagram, it has garnered over 1 million views.
