An Instagram user posted a simple recipe for making ghee in a cooker that takes just ten minutes to prepare fresh clarified butter.

Ghee is widely regarded as the best source of healthy fats and one of India’s most popular edible products. It has been a staple in our kitchens for over a thousand years, serving as an alternative to various oils in the food industry. This dairy product is used in numerous traditional recipes (both savoury and sweet). It is used as both a topping and a tempering agent. Undoubtedly, the best ghee is made at home. However, many of us prefer to buy ready-made ghee because it is more convenient. Making ghee at home is generally regarded as a time-consuming and labour-intensive process.

But what if making ghee at home could be done more quickly and easily? In a recent video, an Instagram vlogger claimed that her method only takes ten minutes. According to Shipra Kesarwani’s Instagram post, ghee can be easily made in a pressure cooker in ten minutes. This is a much simpler process than the one involved in making ghee from malai at home.

To expedite the process of making ghee, the vlogger is seen using a pressure cooker. She pours some water and malai, or fresh cream, into the cooker. The malai, according to her, can be cold or room temperature. After that, she heats it on high flame for a short while until the first whistle. Subsequently, she mixes the malai with a small amount of baking soda in the cooker. She claims that as it heats up, you will notice the ghee separating from the milk solids after five to seven minutes.

The video was posted on January 17 and it has amassed more than 24.7 million views so far. The reel has also attracted more than 2.24 lakh likes and a lot of attention online.

A number of Instagram users expressed interest in this hack in the comments section. However, this unique approach failed to persuade a lot of people. They expressed worries about both the promised shorter duration and the burning of the ghee. In addition, some users thought it unnecessary to add baking soda. A few users termed it ‘a nice trick’ while another commented “There is a proper method for making ghee which is the right method and us method se ghee ki quality maintain rehti hai … also cooker is not good health better use bilona method.”

Will you try this process of making ghee?
