UK Mother Gives Birth To Twins 22 Days Apart In Different Hospitals
The doctors were "stunned" by the distance and Kayleigh has not found any other "twin mother" who has a greater distance.

A mother gave birth to extremely rare twins – born 22 days apart in different hospitals – but unfortunately only one survived. Kayleigh Doyle was pregnant with perfectly healthy twins and did not know that there were any problems. Arlo was born dead naturally and the doctors told her to prepare for the early arrival of “twin two”, but that he would probably not survive either. Incredibly, Arlo’s twin brother did not come and the 22-year-old mother’s labour stopped- and she was sent home to rest. It was not until 22 days later that Astro was born by caesarean section and miraculously survived, contrary to all expectations.

The doctors were “stunned” by the distance and Kayleigh has not found any other “twin mother” who has a greater distance. The proud Kayleigh said that it was incredibly difficult to raise a baby and at the same time mourn his twin- especially because they had “bought two of everything”. But she channelled her grief to support others and is now volunteering in the neonatal intensive care unit.

Kayleigh from Manchester said, “After the trauma of the birth of my first baby, I was speechless when they said I could go home. To this day, I can’t find a woman in the UK who can last 22 days. I was assigned a doctor by another hospital, and we had daily check-ups between the two births. Every day that passed, he said he really couldn’t believe it. When Astro came, I couldn’t believe that he had survived the whole time.”

Kayleigh got pregnant with the twins in October 2020 and all her scans were normal. She had no complications until she was on March 15 2021 was affected by labour. “I was aware of all the risks associated with twins,” she said. I even paid for private family doctor appointments because I was so worried about complications. When I reached 22.5 weeks, I was literally in bed and had the worst pain of my entire life. I wasn’t sure what was going on, so I went downstairs to the toilet and my amniotic sac burst.”

Kayleigh went to the Royal Oldham Hospital and was observed for five days. She brought Arlo on March 20 at 4:20 AM was born naturally – he came 17 weeks early and weighed only 500 grams. He was stillbirth and the doctors suspected that a blood clot in his placenta could have been the cause.
