Viral Video Shows Injured Cow Being Airlifted To Vet Clinic In Switzerland

While cows don’t have wings, under the required conditions they can actually fly! Well, this was the case recently in Switzerland where a domestic cow was seen being airlifted by a helicopter for a veterinary visit. A video of the same is going viral on the internet, showing the animal flying high above mountains and forests while remaining calm and composed. The video also shows the animal properly fitted with a harness, keeping its safety in view as the rescue workers airlifted the cow away for medical treatment.

It was shared on the X (Formerly Twitter) handle of ‘Nature is Amazing’ with a caption that reads, “A cow flying to the vet in Switzerland.” As soon as the video was shared, it left social media users divided. While many found the unconventional mode of transportation quite unique and hilarious, some even raised concerns about the cow’s safety.

A user wrote, “Poor thing I bet it was terrifying,” while another commented, “Like, imagine if other beings that didn’t speak your language hooked you up to some strange contraption and without explanation you were flying thousands of feet through the air.”

“He’s like.. “my friends are never going to believe this,” a user joked, while an account remarked, “I bet this trip is still cheaper than an ambulance ride to the ER in the United States of over-priced healthcare.”

A user while raising concerns about animal cruelty wrote, “Nobody cared to ask cows if they want to fly or not. Animal cruelty.”

While it remains unclear whether the cow had any injuries, the video has already amassed over 29 million views followed by thousands of likes and comments.

Notably, this is not a very uncommon phenomenon in Switzerland. In the past, several similar videos have gone viral, showing cows being airlifted for medical reasons.

Injured cow airlifted to hospital

In 2023, another video surfaced on the internet, showing a 2-year-old cow named Goddess being airlifted by a helicopter after it got an injured leg. The rescue was carried out near the Evolene village of Switzerland. Laurent Crettenand, a flight assistant with the helicopter company spoke to Storyful and shared that the cow likely broke her leg in a fight, following which it was taken for treatment.

“Our Swiss cows are the only ones in the world to fight each other, so I think this is what happened,” he told the outlet.
