When in India, foreigners are often seen visiting rural parts of the country and engaging with the locals to learn more about their life and culture. There are many such videos of heartwarming conversations between foreigners and Indians, displaying a beautiful picture of cultural exchange and friendship. One such video has recently caught the internet’s attention. An elderly woman’s concern for a foreigner has won hearts online.
Saloni Abraham shared a video on her Instagram handle, showing her friend’s visit to a village in Madhya Pradesh. “I called my friend to Madhya Pradesh so I could show her one of the raw sides of India. While we wanted to play with the baby goats in a very small village of 10-12 houses, these old ladies were quite astonished to see a foreigner and her piercings,” she wrote.
Mentioning how the woman got worried about her friend’s piercings, Saloni shared that they advised her to remove them to save the ear. “Nikal do usko (Remove them),” one of them could be heard telling the foreigner, who eventually agrees and tries to hand over the earrings to the woman. While one of them refused to take the pair, another readily took a piece and exclaimed that it was heavy. Further in their conversation, the woman went on to explain how the foreigner’s earlobe can get severely damaged or stretched if she continues wearing such heavy earrings.
Social media users were left delighted over their heartwarming conversation. One wrote, “Old lady is worried about her ear,” while another added, “Beautiful and simple interaction.”
“The old ladies are asking to remove the heavy earrings as they are hurting the ears. She is explaining how her ears were cut due to heavy earrings. That’s how they show love,” a comment read. A user remarked, “Village people are so pure.”
A comment explained, “Actually, tribal women earlier wore heavier jewellery, nowadays it’s not common.”
