Gopi Thotakura, a pilot and entrepreneur, became the first Indian to travel to space as a tourist on Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin’s NS-25 mission. He was chosen as one of six crew members for the NS-25 mission and flaunted the Indian flag in space as he made the historic achievement. The video has now gone viral and showcases the adventures of the crew defying gravity.
A video of Gopi Thotakura displaying a miniature of the tricolour in the spacecraft was shared by Blue Origin. It also showed the crew members enjoying the thrilling feeling of floating in the spacecraft due to gravity loss. The team was initially surprised when they gradually started getting lifted from their seats and were rotating inside the aircraft. Soon, they started enjoying themselves. Gopi Thotakura appears in front of the camera with a placard that reads, “I am an Eco hero of my sustainable planet.” The caption along with the video stated, “Forever changed.”

Sharing details about the crew members for NS-25 mission, Blue Origins stated, “Gopi Thotakura is a lifelong pilot and aviator who learned how to fly before he could drive. He flies jets commercially, in addition to piloting bush, aerobatic, and seaplanes. He’s also the co-founder of Preserve Life Corp, a global center for holistic wellness and applied health.”

While many were thrilled to see the adventure, some thought it was a waste of time and resources. One user stated, “Wow !!!! You rock Guys!!! Some day, I will be there,” while another enquired, “How can I book a flight?”
An individual stated, “I wouldn’t spend a second wasting time floating, waving to a camera. I would be glued to the window looking at the wonder our planet is.” and another thought that the entire process was useless. “I’m genuinely curious what is the goal of this, what is being achieved by all these agencies and countries that are getting involved in this,” said the user.
Gopi Thotakura is the co-founder of Preserve Life Corp, a medical facility near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Kenneth L Hess, Sylvain Chiron, Mason Angel, Ed Dwight and Carol Schallera were also aboard the spacecraft. Blue Origin’s seventh human flight, NS-25, was launched from Launch Site One in West Texas on Sunday as part of the New Shepard project. The company created the New Shepard, a fully reusable suborbital launch vehicle designed for space tourism.
