Eight of the 10 Pakistani Taliban terrorists convicted for attacking Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai have been secretly freed. The Taliban terrorists were sentenced to 25 years in jail on April 30, 2015 by the Swat anti-terrorism court in Pakistan for their role in the 2012 attack on Malala while she was returning home from school.
Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists had claimed the responsibility of the attack on Malala in October 2012 as she was returning from her school in the Mingora town of Swat district. Malala was reportedly attacked following orders by the Taliban leader Maulana Fazlullah.
Pakistan Army said in September, 2014 that it arrested 10 men involved in the attack on the 17-year-old activist who became the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner in October, 2014.
The activist survived the gun shots and recovered after treatment first in Pakistan and later in the UK, where she lives with her family.
Nobel laureate Malala won worldwide acclaim for standing up for the right to education of girls in Swat valley in 2007 when Taliban controlled the region.
