Ahead of the November presidential polls, all eyes are on former US President Donald Trump as speculation grows over his potential choice for vice president in a highly anticipated rematch against incumbent Joe Biden.
Vice-presidential candidates are selected to complement the presidential nominee demographically, ideologically, and geographically. Trump chose Mike Pence in 2016 as his running mate, but the dynamics for the 2024 election cycle may shift with Trump considering former presidential candidate and Indian-American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

Ramaswamy, who withdrew from the presidential race, has actively campaigned for Trump. Meanwhile, the former US President’s admiration for Ramaswamy has also been evident in recent remarks. Initially dismissive of Ramaswamy’s potential as a vice-presidential pick earlier this year, Trump’s tone shifted during a rally in Wisconsin.
The presumptive Republican nominee praised Ramaswamy as a “smart guy” capable of effectively managing his administration. While stopping short of confirming Ramaswamy as his VP choice, Trump hinted at his inclusion in some capacity, stating, “If I gave it to Vivek to do, he’d pull it off.”
Ramaswamy reciprocated Trump’s sentiments, likening him to “the George Washington of our day.” The endorsement has fueled widespread speculation and public discourse, with social media platforms buzzing over a recent video purportedly showing Trump’s private jet departing Cleveland amid secretive VP discussions.
This could very well be fake news but the claim is that Trump was in Ohio a few days ago to ask Vivek Ramaswamy to be his VP. I would be really happy if this turns out to be his pick. pic.twitter.com/OsfmRXBkfq— Clint Russell (@LibertyLockPod) June 23, 2024
One vocal supporter wrote on X, “If he’s VP I am all in on Trump, unabashedly. If in wrong, I’ll eat that crow when everything goes to shiit. But having his influence in the ear of Trump along with a libertarian in a good dept (DOE is what Angela was saying) is a absolute BANGER of a start. That would give me.”
Another said, “Vivek is the only real choice. The establishment wants anyone else but him. He hasn’t been corrupted by Washington and can’t be bought.” Yet another said, “I’m sure they considered that the jet would be watched and could have reached out to him without anyone knowing. If this trip was to meet with Vivek, I’m excited about the future.” Amid the speculation, a spokesperson for Ramaswamy acknowledged the media buzz but underscored his focus on ensuring Trump’s re-election to advance the “America First” agenda.
