In an untoward incident involving an aircraft, a Frontier Airlines passenger caused an entire flight to deboard after she refused to comply with exit row instructions of the airline. The woman was later arrested.
A video of the incident was shared on X, formerly Twitter, and went viral on social media. The 5-minute clip shows an unidentified woman visibly angry with airline employees over the exit instructions as fellow passengers urge her to get off the plane.
The incident was reported at North Carolina’s Charlotte Douglas International Airport and police officers eventually escorted her off after she insisted on not moving out of the aircraft.
During the argument with the airline staff, the now-arrested woman can be heard saying, “Oh, I’m not going to save anybody. If something happens, I’m going to save myself.”
When consistently asked to leave the plane, the woman says, “And my grandson is getting off, out of school, and his mama took a flight to Mexico, and I’m not getting off this plane,” amid an announcement by the captain over the speaker.
Despite constant appeals by the airline staffers and other passengers, the woman declines to get off the plane prompting the captain to make another announcement warning of action against the passengers.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we’ll be underway here shortly, we gotta take care of this issue. Law enforcement will be arriving,” the flight captain can be heard saying in the video.
The woman also threatens to call her attorney terming the treatment “illegal. Eventually, two police officials enter the aircraft and approach the passenger.
As a result, all passengers had to deboard while she was taken away in a police car with handcuffs on.
While it is yet unclear exactly when this took place but the video of the incident was first posted on Tiktok on May 9.
According to FAA regulations, passengers seated in an exit row must read instructions and verbally agree to assist others in case of an emergency.
