Dallas: Five Dallas police officers were killed by snipers on Friday as protests were being held in the downtown area over the fatal police shootings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana this week.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown said in a statement two snipers shot 11 officers, three of whom were killed.

The gunfire broke out on Thursday while hundreds of people were gathered to protest fatal police shootings this week in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and suburban St. Paul, Minnesota.
Protests were also held in several other cities across the country on Thursday night after a Minnesota officer on Wednesday fatally shot Philando Castile while he was in a car with a woman and a child.
The aftermath of the shooting was livestreamed in a widely shared Facebook video.
