Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, has reached out to her sister-in-law, Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton to connect with her and extend her support as the latter recovers from an abdominal surgery and has landed in controversy following her photoshopping incident.
Meghan Markle has reached out to Kensington Palace several times via back channels in an effort to connect with Kate Middleton, Scandals of the Royal Palaces author Tom Quinn said while speaking to The Mirror.
“She is genuinely worried about Kate’s health,” Quinn claimed. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not on speaking terms with Kate Middleton and Prince William when the former stepped back from their royal duties and moved to Montecito, California in 2020.
Another royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! that it is unlikely that Kate will start reconciliation talks with Meghan as she recovers and is possibly not even in a state to even consider whether to take Meghan’s advice and support.
Bond said Kate is unlikely to consider Meghan Markle “who spent such a very short time in the royal fold” as “an appropriate or qualified person to give her advice or support”.
Bond said it is time for Kate to focus on regaining her physical and mental strength. “I don’t imagine she would welcome tackling the family rift right now,” she added.
She said, however, that if Markle decides to send “flowers” or “goodies” to the princess to “cheer her up”, the gesture would be politely accepted.
Author Quinn also claimed that Kate would accept the “olive branches” extended by her sister-in-law and would not want to be seen as “rebuffing” these gestures.
Quinn, however, suspected that it would not lead to reconciliation between the pair or the feuding brothers.
“The feeling in Kensington Palace is that if Meghan’s attempts to extend an olive branch are welcomed, it will just re-open old wounds,” Quinn said.
Kate Middleton has not been seen in the public since Christmas 2023 and has been spotted only while travelling, surrounded by tight security.
