Mercedes unveils SLS AMG Black Series
The SLS AMG Black Series will go on sale next summer, but Mercedes has yet to announce the pricing.

Mercedes will be unveiling this – the SLS AMG Black Series at the upcoming LA Auto Show 2012. AMG has tuned the already fabulous 6.2-litre V8 engine to now produce 622PS, up from the previous 583PS with a drop in torque by 14Nm.

The lesser torque hasn't affected the 0-100 times though with Mercedes claiming an improved 3.6 seconds and a top whack of 315kmph. Uprated ceramic brakes with twin rotors provide the stopping force for this 1550kg beast.

The handling is said to have been improved with an electronically controlled rear differential and a coil over suspension which can be adjusted. In the aluminium space frame, AMG have replaced the stock body braces with CFRP ones for added rigidity.

Styling for this SLS AMG Black Series is said to have been derived from the Mercedes GT3 racecar while design elements like the spoiler at the front chin, side skirts, forged alloy wheels and vented rear diffuser help this car look the part.

The interiors have lots of exposed carbon fibre and a red 12 o'clock marking on the steering wheel. Mercedes is yet to announce the pricing though and we expect them to do so by March 2013, when the car will be on sale.
