New Delhi: Air India website on Wednesday crashed on day one of the 5-day special discount period. The airline had launched 'Air India Offer', a scheme offering tickets for Rs 100 apart from all applicable taxes. The offer has started from Wednesday.

The discount is available only for online booking and for travel during the period of August 27-September 30.

As the website was unable handle the large number of passengers, it has stopped running since midnight.

Air India officials said that the airline website is hosted by National Informatics Centre and the crash was a result of NIC server problem. Officials said that the issue will be sorted by the evening.

Air India is celebrating 'Air India Day' as it was amalgamated with erstwhile Indian Airlines into one airline on August 27, 2007.
