New Delhi: In an attempt to roll out Goods and Services Tax (GST) from next fiscal, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is hopeful that Congress and JDU Chief Nitish Kumar will bring his allies on board in support of the bill.
In an exclusive interview to CNBC TV 18 on Monday, Jaitley announced that he is willing to have a dialogue with the Congress to push NDA's developmental agenda further. "On GST Congress was alone but others were with us. I hope Nitish Kumar will bring his allies in support of GST," he said.
On the context Bihar poll debacle, Jaitley said, "Hopefully there should not be another parliament washout over non-issue."
While trying to allay market fears and to sooth investor's fears after markets see red on Bihar, he said, "The poll results in Bihar will not affect NDA's developmental agenda. The structural reforms will continue at a rapid pace and wait for the next budget for any announcement on taxes."
He claimed that if RJD and JDU fought independently then the result could have been different. "The grand alliance arithmetic was much bigger and it ensured their win. This was a setback, but BJP has won and lost in past. It will not impact the economic reforms process."
