India A batter, Tilak Varma showcased his class with the bat as he struck a fine century against India D on Day 3 at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur on Saturday afternoon.
The 21-year-old was able to get going with the bat after a fairly uneventful show during the first innings. After being dismissed for 10 runs in the previous innings, he managed to bring up his fifth first-class century in the Duleep Trophy 2024 match.
His innings comprised just nine boundaries which lasted for 193 deliveries to extend India A’s lead in the match to up to 488 runs following which the captain, Mayank Agarwal decided to recall the batters and declare their innings.

The young batting star showcased a plethora of shots including the sweep, reverse-sweep and some fine footwork during his innings which resulted in the century putting his side well in front.

The A-team has been dominant across all fronts and will look to continue on in the final innings of the match and possibly take the win. With the final session along with the next day’s play remaining, Mayank Agarwal’s side will have more than enough time to secure a result.
After picking up a loss in the previous game, India A will be desperate to get a win on the board to keep them in the hunt to possibly secure a spot in the final and hopefully lift the title.

The youngster will be eyeing more big knocks as he has done today to hopefully secure a spot in the long-term plans of the Indian cricket team. So far he has represented the national side in four ODIs and 16 T20Is but is yet to make an appearance in the longest format.
