Rishabh Pant To Leave Delhi Capitals And Join CSK Ahead Of IPL 2025 – Reports
Rishabh Pant is DC's leading run scorer and most-capped player in IPL history. He was the franchise's captain in IPL 2024 and scored 446 runs in 13 matches.

Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who is the most capped player and leading run scorer for Delhi Capitals in IPL history, can leave the franchise ahead of the mega auction next year and join five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. According to a report in Dainik Jagran on Saturday (July 20), the Delhi-based franchise is not happy with Pant, who led the side in IPL 2024, and is still thinking about the decision to retain the star cricketer.

As per the available information, the franchise can also consider trading the wicketkeeper-batter, but former Indian captain and DC’s Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly is in favour of sticking with Pant as captain.

If Delhi decides to release Pant, then the 26-year-old left-handed wicketkeeper-batter, who played in all eight matches of the T20 World Cup 2024 for India as the No. 3 batter, can join the Chennai Super Kings. A CSK official has hinted that the frachise is looking to sign a top Indian wicketkeeper as MS Dhoni’s replacement if he decides to call time on his IPL career.

The 43-year-old Dhoni is the most capped player in IPL history, and there are high chances that he will not feature in the 2025 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league.

It has also been reported that KL Rahul may bring an end to his three-year association with the Lucknow Super Giants. Rahul was slammed by LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka after his side lost the IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, and the incident was caught on camera.

Rahul, who joined LSG for Rs 17 crore ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, is a Karnataka-based player and can join the Bengaluru-based franchise, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, once again.

The 31-year-old has played for RCB in the past as well. He was part of the franchise in the IPL in 2013 and 2016. On multiple occasions in the past, he has expressed his desire to play for his state team again.

In the 2024 edition of the IPL, RCB played under Faf du Plessis’ leadership and qualified for the playoffs. But it is believed that RCB is now looking to appoint an Indian as captain, and if they manage to snap Rahul, then the star cricketer who has led India in all three formats of the game can be seen taking the charge in IPL 2025.
