It was a sight to behold when Team India’s victory parade kicked off on the overcrowded Mumbai streets with the players waving the tri-colour and thanking the fans with joined hands. The icing on the cake was Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma flaunting the trophy together amid loud cheers.
It was drizzling in the city but the excitement to welcome the champions brushed aside the discomfort due to bad weather. In fact, they enjoyed it while waiting for long hours before finally having a glimpse of the superstars who had just returned from the Caribbean after ending the 11-year-long drought of an ICC title.
As per the schedule, India’s open bus parade began from Nariman Point in Mumbai and headed towards the iconic Wankhede Stadium where a felicitation ceremony is scheduled to take place later in the night. As the parade crossed the Marine Drive, the players were awestruck with the sea of fans that had covered the roads to welcome them.
Virat Kohli took out his phone to capture the moment while other players kept on clicking selfies. It was visibly understood the players were stunned by the maddening atmosphere which was the outcome of their T20 World Cup triumph in West Indies.

While the fans and players enjoyed the divine moment, the Mumbai Police took stringent measures to ensure the safety and security of the spectators.
Earlier, the Mumbai airport rolled out the red carpet for the Men in Blue, followed by a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony at the terminal adorned with shades of the tricolour. The team members rode in beautifully decorated buggies, and outside there was the sound of the traditional Maharashtrian dhol-tasha, tutari and lezim, making the arrival truly grand and a sight of national pride and happiness.
The CSMIA’s top management felicitated the team members and escorted them with thunderous cheers outside, where more people were waiting to give them a grand reception and hearty welcome.
On Thursday morning, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team arrived in New Delhi via a special flight from Barbados after being stuck for days due to Hurricane Beryl in the Caribbean.
