Suryakumar Yadav to Miss Out Few More Games for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 - Report
Suryakumar Yadav who has been out of action since, India's tour of South Africa, is reportedly set to miss out a few more games in IPL 2024.

The highly anticipated return of India’s star batter in the T20I format, Suryakumar Yadav could be postponed as he looks to make a full recovery from a sports hernia surgery with his progress being closely monitored by the National Cricket Academy (NCA)

According to a report by PTI, it is reported that the batter could miss out on a few more games in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But the positive news is that the ace batter is already advancing on his road to recovery.

The report has quoted an anonymous source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) which stated,” Surya is making very good progress and very soon he will be back playing for MI. However, he might have to sit out for a few more games, having missed the first two”.

It is suggested that the board give more importance to the Indian international being fully fit for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United States of America and the West Indies in June, later this year.

The Mumbaikar had been out of action ever since he injured himself on the field during India’s tour of South Africa.

“For BCCI, the main concern is if he is on course for World T20 which he is. Obviously, he will play for MI but after a sports hernia surgery, he can’t be rushed”.

MI have certainly missed the services of their best batter as the side has gone on to lose the two games they have played so far. The first was an away game against the Gujarat Titans where the side led by Shubman Gill picked up the win by six runs.

This was followed by another loss on the road against the Sunrisers Hyderabad where the hosts managed to shatter many records and set the highest team total in a T20 game with 277 runs on the board. The side led by Hardik Pandya put in a valiant effort chasing the behemoth target with Tilak Varma leading the charge but fell short in the end.

Suryakumar Yadav has gone on to cement himself as one of the best in the business. Holding the top spot amongst batters in the shortest format, he has built a reputation for hitting the ball to all parts of the ground and consistently scoring big runs for the national side. He has played 60 games where he scored 2141 runs at an average of 45.55 and striking at a rate of 171.55.

The five-time title holders will certainly be keen to see their number four batter back on the field as they hope to see a change in fortunes in a bid to clinch the title once again. More importantly, the national side will also be looking to see the best of Suryakumar once again as they go for the T20 World Cup

In their next game, Mumbai Indians will go up against the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium to mark their first home game of the season, on Monday.
