Delhi’s Industrial Institutes of Technology (ITIs) have achieved an impressive placement rate of 72.3 per cent this academic year. Among the 19 ITIs in Delhi, ITI Vivek Vihar and ITI Dheerpur have emerged as the leaders with placement rates of 97 per cent and 94 per cent respectively. Graduates from these ITIs have secured positions in esteemed companies such as Hero, LG, LnT, Bharat Electronics, Tata Group, and more, reported Career360.
Out of the total 14,800 students enrolled in the 19 ITIs across Delhi, a remarkable 10,700 students have secured placements in various companies, while others have opted for self-employment.
Delhi government manages a network of 13 co-ed and 6 women ITIs in the region. The 19 ITIs collectively offer courses in 61 trades, encompassing 38 engineering trades and 23 non-engineering trades. The placement success of Delhi ITIs is attributed to the focused Placement Strategy implemented by the Kejriwal government for these institutes.
At a press conference, Minister of Technical Education, Atishi stated, “The placement numbers of Delhi ITIs are the result of the Kejriwal government’s focused placement strategy for these institutes. Our commitment to providing quality technical education and ensuring robust placements has resulted in empowering students and bridging the gap between education and employment.”
Atishi further mentioned, “To ensure better placement opportunities and industry exposure for ITI students, the government has formed the Centralised Placement and Industry Outreach Cell. This cell has adopted a transformation strategy for Placement, aiming to modernise the placement approach by focusing on academia-industry collaboration, career services, flexible learning options, entrepreneurship support, job fairs, and more.”
She emphasised that the main goal of this strategy is to connect traditional education with the changing demands of the workforce, creating a dynamic and industry-aligned placement system.
Delhi Government’s Transformative Placement Strategy for ITIs:
1. The approach to improve ITI placements centers around maintaining a dedication to providing a strong foundation in skill education. This involves training teachers through ToT (Train-the-Trainer) programs.
2. There is an emphasis on strengthening collaboration with local industries to provide students with valuable exposure through industry visits, internships, and on-the-job training.
3. The strategy includes developing comprehensive career services that cover resume building, interview preparation, and soft skills training.
4. It aims to offer flexible learning options that align with the changing demands of the job market.
