8 Insurance-Related Questions Every Woman Should Ask Before Joining A Company
You should ask whether there is family coverage in the company's health insurance or not.

When we get a job, we ask many questions regarding the role and the other benefits from HR to get a better understanding of the company. But if you are a woman, then you should at least ask eight basic questions related to insurance from the HR team before joining so that, when needed, you do not face any problem of an extra burden on your pocket. Let’s take a look at the questions that need to be asked before joining a company.

1. One should first how much health insurance and medical facilities are covered by the company and what the rules are regarding them. If you are not married yet, you can ask questions regarding the rules after your marriage.

2. You should also clearly ask whether there is family coverage in the insurance or not. Also, do they cover the parents or in-laws as well? If one gets married after a few years of joining the job, can parents and in-laws be included? Many times, companies give the option to decide the nominee according to the percentage, and there is an option to include parents from both sides.

3. A woman should also ask regarding the increase in the limit of insurance received from the office initially or after a few years of employment. According to reports, as per rules, the insurance should be 8 to 10 times the CTC. That means if there is a package of Rs 20 lakh, then there should be insurance of Rs 2 crore. This includes both personal and office insurance.

4. Maternity insurance is not a part of many companies. So, before joining, one should discuss in detail the rules regarding maternity leave, leave without pay, etc.

5. Term insurance or life insurance: If your work involves machines, then you should have a clear understanding of whether your insurance scheme covers the risks arising from your work or not.

6. The company’s term insurance covers accidents but does the company’s insurance have a clause regarding permanent disability? So you must ask: if a permanent disability occurs, will it be covered or not? Permanent disability includes amputation of both hands and both legs, amputation of one arm or one leg, or loss of both eyes. However, permanent disability does not include coma and paralysis.

7. Does your company offer a super annuity (after retirement) plan? One can ask whether one will get this plan after retirement or not.

8. How much is the coverage given in the insurance by the office? Is it cash or cashless? Also, a woman should discuss the rules for encashing sick leaves and holidays.
