Ashoka University has started accepting applications for the second round of the 2025 Young India Fellowship (YIF). A residential postgraduate diploma in liberal studies is available for a full year through the YIF programme. Interested candidates can apply for the programme online till March 4 at Ashoka University’s official website, ashoka.edu.in. Candidates of all ages are welcome to apply as long as they have graduated by July 2024 or sooner with a recognised degree in any field, including final-year students.
One hundred students from all across the nation and beyond are trained by the institution for leadership positions through the Young India Fellowship (YIF). The programme will provide need-based financial aid, which will eliminate as much as 10 per cent of the costs associated with tuition, housing, and hostels. A chancellor’s merit scholarship, which covers the full cost of tuition plus living and meal expenses, is also available to ten individuals who have excelled in multiple areas of involvement and shown leadership abilities. Notably, financial aid was received by 68 per cent of the fellows in the Class of 2024.
The curriculum attempts to teach students “how to think,” as opposed to “what to think.” Throughout the programme, the YIF fellow will be required to take 20 courses taught by distinguished academics and subject matter experts in subjects like data analysis, statistics, public policy, economics, philosophy, psychology, communication, design thinking, art appreciation, and gender studies.
Additionally, the fellowship provides an experiential learning module (ELM) in which fellows collaborate in teams to complete real-world tasks. In order to improve their reading, writing, and critical thinking abilities, the fellows will also need to complete a critical writing course.
Arun Kumar Singh, a former ambassador to the United States, Sanjeev Bikchandani, the founder of naukri.com and co-founder of Ashoka University, Rudrangshu Mukherjee, chancellor of Ashoka University, and Pramath Raj Sinha, the founding dean of ISB Hyderabad, are among the faculty members for the course.
