Several changes are taking place in the education system in the country. Along with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the new National Curriculum Framework (NCF) is also being implemented. Under this, preparations are being made to conduct CBSE board exams twice a year. Let us tell you that there are schools affiliated with the CBSE board in foreign countries as well. In such a situation, there can be a lot of difficulty in fixing the schedule of the country and abroad simultaneously. According to various media reports, three options are being discussed to conduct CBSE board exams twice a year. CBSE is considering the semester system. In the semester system, exams are held twice a year at an interval of six months.
In the current education system, CBSE board exams are conducted between February and April. There is no update on when the CBSE board exams will be held twice a year. Actually, the Central Board of Secondary Education is still planning this.
“The three possible options that have been discussed is conducting the exams in a semester system, with the first board exam in January-February and the second one in March-April, or conducting the second set of board exams in June with the supplementary or improvement exams,” an official said, as per reports.
“The way our academic calendar is designed, plus the schedule of competitive exams and geographical challenges since CBSE schools are spread across the country and even abroad, the semester system seems less feasible,” the official further said.
CBSE is the largest education board in the country. To conduct its exams twice a year, very strong planning and coordination will be required. Know what challenges will come with conducting CBSE board exams twice a year.
Summer and winter breaks are given keeping in view the weather in India and abroad. Having exams twice a year means that changes will have to be made there too.
It will take at least 55 days to prepare the list of students, issue notifications, conduct practicals and written exams, results, verification, re-evaluation, etc.
They will have to plan to keep a sufficient gap between the two exams. Making a timetable for this will not be easy.
CBSE has told the Union Education Ministry that the current system requires more than 150 stages to conduct Class 10 and 12 board exams.
