Securing good marks in exams is not an easy task, it requires focus and determination. It is much more complex for physically challenged people to do so. Despite being differently abled, a girl had set an example for her success. Amrita Bhowmik passed her class 12 exams with flying colours. She lives in the Sud Colony area of Mahishila, Asansol in West Bengal. With just four marks, she failed to make it to the first division. But her desire is much bigger. Amrita’s father is ill and her mother died of Covid-19. Her relatives are now taking care of Amrita. She passed the Higher Secondary Examination this year. The family members said when Amrita was six months old, they found that several parts of her body were not functioning, including her hands and feet. She could not hear and her eyesight was also poor. She was treated in major hospitals, including Chennai and Kolkata. The doctors were not successful in treating her, but her visual acuity was slightly increased.

Amrita Bhowmik has passed her high school exams by combining her vision with mental strength. She used to study by turning the pages of books with her lips. She uses her mobile by touching the screen with her nose.

After succeeding in senior high school, Amrita plans to study BA English Hons as she wants to become a teacher. Though she is exceptionally gifted, the strength of her mind keeps her moving forward. The family members are also surprised to see her strength and capability. They believe Amrita will move forward with the strength of her mind in the coming days. The locals also believe that her efforts will encourage many people to move forward.
