IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi Launches B.Tech Programme In Energy Engineering, CSE
The B.Tech programme will provide undergraduate students with a learning of vital domains like energy and digitalisation

The first-ever Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme has been launched by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-D) in collaboration with its international campus in Abu Dhabi, for the academic year 2024-2025. Two bachelor’s degree programmes including BTech in Energy Engineering and a BTech in Computer Science and Engineering will be available in the International Institute.

The BTech in Energy Engineering focuses on sustainability, offering a variety of engineering verticals to accommodate a range of interests and aims to solve contemporary issues in energy production and management. The BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, which focuses on AI and machine learning, blends theory and practical abilities to give students expertise in abstraction, computational thinking, and problem-solving methodologies.

In 2023, IIT Delhi, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) collaborated to emphasise the importance of the recently launched master’s programme and to highlight the shared commitment of all partners in developing qualified talent in the United Arab Emirates.

There will be thirty seats provided for each programme, for a total of sixty seats. The Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) 2024 and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) 2024 would be the two methods used for admissions to the academic programmes. The two programmes will start concurrently in September 2024, and registration for the academic year 2024–2025 is open until June 3, 2024.

These curricula will assist students in addressing energy-related issues, influencing the direction of the digital age, and creating software that will improve a variety of sectors, including finance, analytics, and information technology. Additionally, it will equip undergrads with a range of solutions to fulfill expanding needs in vital domains like energy and digital infrastructure.

According to Dr. Ahmed Sultan Alshoaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Higher Education Sector at the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) technology and engineering will play a major role in shaping the economy of the future. He further said, “Because of the critical role of technology and engineering given in shaping the future economy, our undergraduate programmes are geared towards driving meaningful change in the UAE and beyond.”

IIT Delhi Director Professor Rangan Banerjee stated “We aim to combine the rigour and quality of IIT Delhi’s academic programmes with an enriching campus experience and individualised attention to enable students to learn and grow at our new Abu Dhabi campus.” “We aim to offer students a life-changing educational experience and empower them with the necessary skills to assume global leadership positions in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence, digitalization, and sustainable energy,” he added.

For students in the UAE, IIT-Delhi has started a number of outreach initiatives. The institute stated that short courses and executive programmes for the business are anticipated to begin shortly. The Abu Dhabi campus provides a variety of courses in addition to these, including those in the fields of energy and sustainability, artificial intelligence, computer science and engineering, healthcare, mathematics and computing, and other engineering, scientific, and humanities disciplines.
