Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt Arts and Commerce College (GACC) is reckoned as one of the most vibrant and preferable colleges in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The college was set up in 1891, and it holds a national reputation. According to sources, Bachelor of Science (BSc) courses will now be offered at this oldest arts and commerce college. This institute will soon become the hub of education. All preparations for this have been completed. The admissions process for students will also start with this session. Since the commencement of the BSc courses at this college, hundreds of students who have scored 50 to 65 percent marks have a new option.
It is the oldest arts and commerce college in the city. Currently more than 13,000 students are studying at this college. BSc will be started for the first time at the college. All preparations for this have been completed. Admissions will also start in this session (2024). The state government has also given immediate consent to 39 posts of assistant professors.
Students benefit:
The cutoff for BSc has never been less than 65 percent. In Holkar Science College Indore, no student gets admission in BSc if one scores less than 70 percent in almost all the major specialisations and 65 percent in science. So, hundreds of students scoring 50 to 65 percent marks will be able to get the benefit of admission to GACC. Retired principal of the college, Prof Anoop Vyas, says that rural students will get the most benefit from this entire project.
New posts were also approved:
When the new course will be started at GACC College, initially 39 guest faculty members will be allotted to teach BSc students. Along with this, 13 posts of lab technician and an equal number of lab assistants have also been sanctioned in the college. There is a possibility that a BSc course may start with more than 300 seats. The final decision on this will be taken later.
This college is primarily famous for BA and BCom; although it also facilitates other programs such as BBA, MBA, MPhil and PhD. Admission to GACC Indore depends on the merits of the Common Entrance Test (CET) taken by the college.
