The registration window for the Combined Defence Services (CDS 1) was closed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on, January 9. Candidates who were yet to apply for the CDS 1 exam could register themselves through the official website of the Union Public Service Commission at upsconline.nic.in and fill out the application form. The UPSC CDS 2024 application window was accessible from December 20, 2024, and candidates have until January 9 to apply for the recruitment.
As per the official schedule released by the UPSC, the Combined Defence Services (CDS 1) exam 2024 is slated to be held on April 21 at various examination centres in 70 cities across the country. The CDS II will be conducted on September 1, 2024, and the notification will be made available on May 15.
UPSC CDS I EXAM 2024: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Educational Qualification: To be eligible for the UPSC CDS exam, candidates must be a graduates of a recognised university. One must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering to join the Navy, but to get into the Air Force Academy, candidates must have passed Physics and Chemistry in Class 12 with a Bachelor’s degree.
Age limit: Candidates interested in joining for Air Force and Navy must be between the ages 19 to 23 years to be eligible for the CDS exam and for Officers Training Academy, they must be between the ages of 19 and 24.
The UPSC CDS exams are held in two phases — a written exam and an interview round. The written exam carries 100 marks, and the duration of the exam is 2 hours. The UPSC CDS examination is held for admission to IMA, INA, and AFA and to OTA. It consists of three papers: English language, general knowledge, and elementary mathematics and English, General Knowledge respectively.
The UPSC conducts the CDS and NDA exams twice a year for the recruitment of Commissioned Officers in the Navy, Indian Army, and Air Force. The second phase of exams for the NDA, NA II, and CDS II have been tentatively scheduled for September 1, 2024, with a notification date of May 15, 2024.
