New Delhi: Chelsea manager Avram Grant has called on referees to give players more protection after losing captain John Terry for six weeks with fractured bones in his foot.
"I see that the discussions or the main discussions in the last two weeks or the last two months is about whether Chelsea sends three players or four players to the referees to complain about the decisions. This is wrong. It should be about protecting the players. That's the main issue," Avram Grant said.
Terry was injured by a tackle from Arsenal's Emmanuel Eboue in the first half of their 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Scans revealed the central defender had fractured the bones, including his third metatarsal and the he will not take part in England's friendly against Switzerland at Wembley on February 6.
Chelsea are already without Didier Drogba who underwent knee surgery and the striker is not expected to wear the Chelsea shirt again until he returns from the African Nations Cup in mid February.
Chelsea are preparing for their Carling Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
Michael Ballack is expected to return to the starting line up after being out for eight months with an ankle injury.
