Ever since Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman in Me, has been released, the American singer has been ruling headlines for all the controversial reasons. Now, it has been reported that in her memoir, Britney claimed that singer Justin Timberlake broke up with her via a text message while making his 2002 solo debut album, Justified. The two were dating in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
“He started being very standoffish with me. I think that was because he’d decided to use me as ammunition for his record, and so it made it awkward for him to be around me starting at him with all that affection and devotion,” she wrote in the memoir.
Britney further argued that it was after the break up that her father pushed her to do the infamous interview with Diane Sawyer, in which she was asked what she did to cause “so much pain” to Justin Timberlake. Talking about the same, Britney wrote, “I felt like I had been exploited,” and added, “set up in front of the whole world.”
This comes days after it was reported that in her memoir, Britney claimed she had an abortion to end a pregnancy by fellow pop star Justin Timberlake. She mentioned that the pregnancy “was a surprise” and argued that even though she wanted it, Justin never wanted to be a father.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day,” Spears wrote and then added, “But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young.”
“I never would have done it. And yet Justin was so sure that he didn’t want to be a father,” Britney wrote.
Even though it was recently reported that Justin Timberlake is trying to distance himself from his former girlfriend’s allegations, it should also be noted that the singer has not officially reacted to Britney’s claims as of now.
