Rekha identifies pistol used by Pravin
Rekha Mahajan said the pistol used by Pravin to kill BJP leader Pramod Mahajan was the one that he had shown her earlier.

Mumbai: Rekha Mahajan, wife of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, told the court that her brother-in-law Pravin, accused of killing Pramod, had shown her in 1999 the pistol allegedly used by him in the murder.

Rekha said Pravin had brought the pistol to their Worli residence in 1999 when Pramod was away and showed it to her. She described the pistol saying that it had some number marking on it but she did not pay much attention to other details.

A prime witness in the murder case of her husband and former BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Rekha was cross examined over several omissions in her statement recorded by police on April 27, last year.

She clarified that the police did not ask her specific questions, therefore, she did not reply accordingly. To a query, the witness said she did not tell the police that Praveen had fired bullets at Pramod Mahajan because they (Police) did not ask her about it.

She told the court that prior to the incident of April 22, last year, she had seen the weapon used in 1999, when Praveen had come to her house along with it.

When the accused had come to show the pistol to her, at that time her husband Pramod was not at home, she added. When asked whether she had told the police about her gown

which she wore on the day of incident. She said police did not ask about it.

She did not tell the police that the accused had worn a green jeans shirt and colour trouser on the day of incident. Praveen Mahajan has been accused of murdering his elder brother Pramod Mahajan. He had fired three bullets at Pramod Mahajan on April 22 last year following which the latter succumbed to his injuries on May 3 while undergoing treatment at the Hinduja Hospital.

Praveen Mahajan, then, had surrendered before the Worli Police.
