What does an Adidas product tester do?
Adidas product testers test the quality of new products. When Adidas creates new apparel or footwear, they create a few sample sizes and send them to product testers. The testers then wear the product for a predetermined length of time and provide detailed notes on how well the products hold up. Product testers work on a volunteer basis, as they do not receive any form of compensation. They must send back the test product at the end of the trial, and they are not paid for their participation.
How to Become an Adidas Product Tester
Review the requirements on Adidas’s website. Before applying to become an Adidas product tester, there are several minimum requirements you must fit, such as living in the United States or Europe and being at least 18 years old. Here is a complete list of the qualifications, though you can also find them on Adidas’s website: Live in the United States or Europe Have internet access and a valid email address Read and write in English (for the US or Europe) or German (for Europe only) Be at least 18 years old Provide your body measurements Do not test competitor products (like Nike, Under Armour, etc.) Do not share any information about the products you’re testing If you violate these rules, Adidas can terminate your testing agreement at any time.
Fill out the survey on Adidas’s product testing page. If you meet all the requirements, click “Get Started” on the product testing page to pull up the survey. Select your gender and the type of products you want to test (apparel or footwear), then fill out your body measurements and clothing and shoe sizes. If Adidas currently has products in your size, you’ll then fill out your category interests and your personal details. Category interests include sports like American football, basketball, baseball, and many other sports. You’ll also list training types, positions, performance levels, and how often you train. Adidas only has test products in limited sizes, so you may be rejected if they do not currently have any products in your size. If this is the case, you will not be able to fill out the category interests and personal details. You can also get rejected if you don’t meet the minimum weekly activity requirements for your sport.
Accept your invitation for a product test. If you get selected to participate in a test, you’ll receive an email from Adidas. This email should include details and instructions on how to accept the invitation and what to expect from your first test.
Receive and test the product. If you agree to participate, Adidas will mail the test product to you with instructions for how to perform the test. Typically, you’ll have to wear and test the product for a certain amount of hours or mileage per week for the course of the test period (usually between 2-4 weeks).
Keep a log of your activity and provide feedback. As you test the product, keep detailed notes of your daily activities and how the product held up. At the end of the testing period, you’ll fill out an online questionnaire about your experience.
Send back the product. Unfortunately, Adidas doesn’t allow their testers to keep the products they try out. At the end of your testing period, you’ll mail the product back so Adidas can inspect and evaluate it. Adidas will provide a return label, so you won’t have to spend your own money to send it back.
Do Adidas product testers get paid?
Product testers do not get paid, nor do they keep the products they test. Despite some people claiming to have been financially compensated by Adidas, the brand states that these claims are false and even has a pop-up notification saying so on their product testing page. Testers also have to send their testing products back to Adidas after the testing period, so sign up if you’re excited to help Adidas develop their new products without additional compensation.

If Adidas doesn’t work out, try testing for another brand. Since Adidas has limited sizing for their test products, it’s much more common to get rejected than accepted. Don’t get discouraged, though.
