Banning a User

Open your moderation tools. To do so, go to your subreddit, then select "Moderation tools" on desktop or mobile.

Select "Banned users" from "User Management". This will open up the list of users currently banned from the Reddit.

Select "Add". This will allow you to add a banned user to the Reddit.

Enter a reason for the ban. This message will be sent to the banned user.

Enter a moderator note. This will be visible in the log visible to moderators as well as Reddit staff.

Enter the ban duration. To make the ban permanent, select the "Permanent" checkbox.

Select "Ban user" or "Add". This will ban the user from the subreddit. They will receive a message about the ban and the ban duration. A ban might also be applied to their IP address to help curb ban evasion. They will be unable to join the Reddit community in question or vote, comment on, or create new posts.

Unbanning a User

Open your moderation tools. To do so, go to your subreddit, then select "Moderation tools" on desktop or mobile.

Select "Banned users" from "User Management". This will open up the list of users currently banned from the Reddit.

Find the banned user in the ban list. You can use control-F to do so.

Select "Remove" or "Unban" from the appropriate menu. This will remove the subreddit ban and allow the user to post again.
