Open Steam. Steam has a blue icon that resembles a rotary piston. Click the Steam icon in your Windows Start menu, or Applications folder on Mac to open Steam. If you are not logged in, type the account name and password associated with your Steam account and click Log In or click Create a New Account and fill out the form to sign up for a free Steam account. You can download and install Steam for free from store.steampowered.com
Hover over Games. It's the second button at the top of the web page in the Steam application. Placing the mouse cursor over this button displays a drop-down menu with categories of games.
Click Free-to-play. It's the first option in the drop-down menu below "Games". This displays a list of free-to-play games on Steam. Alternatively, you can click Demos to see a list of games that offer free demos on Steam.
Scroll down and click a game. Games are listed at the bottom of the page below the featured releases and recommended games. Games that say "Free" or "Free-to-play" to the left of the game title has no charge to download. Popular free-to-play games include Destiny 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Warframe, Dota 2, SMITE, Path of Exile, Team Fortress 2 and more. To see additional games, click the number pages at the bottom of the list of games. You can also filter games by clicking the New and Trending, Top Selling, and What's Being Played tabs.
Scroll down and click Play Game. It's the green button below the game information. If a game is free, the green button will say "Free" or "Free-to-play". If there is a charge for the game, it will say "Add to Cart".
Click Next. This indicates that you want to download the game to your Steam folder on your computer. Alternatively, you can choose an install location by clicking "Choose a new Steam folder" in the drop-down menu and selecting a location for your Steam folder on your computer.
Click I agree. This indicates that you agree to the terms and Conditions and downloads the game.
Click Finish. This closes the window. Your game will be available in the Windows Start menu or the Applications folder on Mac as soon as it is finished downloading. You can launch a game in Stream by clicking the Library tab at the top and clicking Games. Click a game in the sidebar to the left and click Play.
