Chiranjeevi has carved his niche in the South film industry with his acting prowess and exceptional dance moves. The 68-year-old actor is one of the bankable actors of showbiz. He was last seen in Bholaa Shankar alongside Keerthy Suresh and Tamannaah Bhatia which underperformed at the box office. But did you know that the actor who made his debut in the industry in 1978 with K Vasu’s directorial Pranam Khareedu had also made a special appearance in a TV daily soap before he shot to fame?
Before making his debut as the lead actor in the Telugu cinema, Chiranjeevi worked in a lot of films where is essayed the role of a second hero or villain or supporting actor. He also made a special appearance in well-known the Hindi TV serial Rajani. The television series was aired on Doordarshan in 1985. It was directed by Basu Chatterjee and Priya Tendulkar was headlining the serial.
While reports suggest that Chiranjeevi was supposed to be part of the serial in a few episodes due to a huge opportunity in films he only made a special appearance in one episode and then decided to leave the show.
For those who are unaware, Shah Rukh Khan and Subhash Ghai made cameo appearances in two episodes. Rajani was well received by the public in its year which could be related to the issues discussed, however, the fictional issues in exiting public departments led the Bombay-based All India LPG Distributors Federation and taxi drivers to stage protests outside the Doordarshan office. The team was stopped from production after 42 weeks of the shoot and the completion of 13 episodes.
Coming back to Chiranjeevi, he made his debut as a lead actor in Punadhirallu which got him two Nandi Awards for Best Actor and Best Feature Film. Last month, the actor on his birthday announced his next film which is touted to be a fantasy drama. The film will be directed and written by Vassishta. It is also said that the film is going to be Chiranjeevi’s most expensive film so far.
