CHENNAI: The second and final phase of elections to the local bodies in the State will be held on Wednesday. A total of 65 municipalities, 270 town panchayats and 194 panchayat unions will go to polls during this phase.As many as 1.31 crore voters can exercise their franchise during the second phase and there will be 29,833 polling booths.Some of the local bodies that are going to the polls near Chennai include Chengalpet, Pallavaram, Anakaputhur, Pammal and Tambaram (all municipalities), Chitlapakkam, Kundrathur, Madambakkam, Mamallapuram, Mangadu, Nandivaram-Guduvancherry, Peerakankaranai, Perungalathur, Sembakkam, Thirukkalukkundram, Thiruneermalai and Tiruporur (town panchayats)In Tiruvallur, Avadi, Poonamallee, Tiruttani and Tiruverkkadu (municipalities) and Tirumazhisai, Tirunindravur and Naravarikuppam (town panchayats) are also going to polls on Wednesday. The panchayats going to polls in Kancheepuram are Kattankulathur, Kundrathur, St Thomas Mount, Thirukazhukundram and Tiruporur. In Tiruvallur, the following panchayats are going to polls: Kadambathur, Poonamallee, Puzhal, Thiruvalangadu, Tiruttani and Villivakkam. With a view to receiving poll-related complaints, a round-the-clock cell has been established at SEC office with three toll-free numbers: 1800 425 7072, 1800 425 7073 and 1800 425 7074. Besides, two landline numbers - 247 53 001 and 247 53 002 (extension 2006) - are also available.
