TIRUPUR: In a filmy style a gang barged into the branch office of a private gold finance firm here on Saturday and robbed off 1,381 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 2 lakh in cash after threatening the staff at knife-point.According to police, a gang of three entered the branch office of Muthoot Mini Finance Pvt Limited in Tirupur pretending like customers on Saturday. Suddenly they held the staff at knife point and stuffed their mouth and tied their hands. Meanwhile, two more members of the gang snatched the keys of the vaults from the staff, opened the locker and took away 1,381 sovereigns of jewellery worth `3 crore and `2 lakh in cash. Two persons of the gang, standing outside the office, prevented customers from entering the premises saying that an official meeting was on in the office. Outsiders came to know about the robbery only after the gang fled the spot in a car. Customers, who came to the office later, found the staff tied up and informed the police. Top police officials inspected the crime scene. Four special teams have been formed to nab the gang.
