2 Jawans Killed in Skirmish with Pakistan's Border Action Team Along LoC
Pakistani troops on Thursday carried out an attack 600 metres inside the Indian territory in Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing two jawans and losing one of their men in the retaliatory action.

Srinagar: Two Army jawans have been reportedly killed by Pakistani soldiers on the LoC in Chakan da Bagh sector in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to reports, a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) intruded 600m into the Indian side and carried out the attack at around 2 pm with the aid of cover fire by the Pakistani troops from their posts.

"During the gunbattle, one intruder was killed while another was injured, the Army said.

This was the third BAT action in Poonch this year. The BAT, which generally comprises special forces of the Pakistan Army and some terrorists, reportedly carried out the attack at around 2 pm under the heavy cover fire by the Pakistani troops from their posts.

"Indian Army's 'Area Domination Patrol' was "targeted by the armed intruders and exchange of fire occurred and while the firefight was going on, the Pakistani posts resorted to heavy firing," the Army added.

In the firefight, two Indian soldiers were killed. They were identified as 34-year-old Naik Jadhav Sandip of Aurangabad, Maharastra and 24-year-old Sepoy Mane Savan Balku of Kolhapur, Maharastra.

the injured intruder managed to escape, facilitated by the cover fire from Pakistani posts on the other side.The Pakistani firing continued till 3.30 pm, an Army official said.

On May 1, a BAT beheaded two Indian soldiers in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district. That attack too was carried out under the cover of shelling from Pakistani posts on the other side of the LoC.
