22-year-old Indian student found dead in Sharjah

A 22-year-old Indian woman student was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Sharjah, prompting the UAE police to launch a probe. The student's father told police he was shocked to discover his only child hanging from a rope in her bedroom at 2pm on Sunday.

He was later taken into police custody. The Eastern Region Police received a call from a police officer saying the woman's body was brought to a hospital by her father, a police official told Gulf News.

"Police said the dead woman was brought to hospital with traces showing a rope had been tied around her neck," the official said. A CID team went to the hospital to investigate. An autopsy will be conducted to establish the cause of death. The woman was studying at a Fujairah college, police said.
