CHENNAI: Sleuths of the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau, on Thursday, arrested a trio near the Central Railway Station and seized about 30 kgs of ganja from them. Acting on a tip-off, a team of NIB officials intercepted two men, who had disembarked from the Madurai-Chennai Pandian Express and were about to board an autorickshaw on Wall Tax Road. According to NIB inspector P Rajendran, a search of the vehicle yielded 30 kg of ganja worth `5 lakh.Both the consignment and autorickshaw were seized, he added. The arrested men were identified as E Aasai (32) of Theni district, K Bhaskaran (32) of Lourdepuram, Mylapore, and E Immanuel (54) of Foreshore Estate, the auto driver. The inspector said the trio was produced before the George Town Court and remanded to judicial custody.In a separate incident, P Deiyvam (48) of Gudalur in Theni district and P Chitra (48) of Salem were arrested for smuggling ganja.
