HYDERABAD: After producing 70 drunken drivers in court on the first day of the traffic drive on Saturday, city traffic police went better on Sunday, registering 90 cases against drunk driving motorists in different parts of Hyderabad. GVG Ashok Kumar, deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) told Express they registered 90 cases across the city and all were asked to appear before the court on Tuesday. Drunk drivers on fourwheelers were fined `2,000 while drivers of twowheelers were fined `1,500. 31 drivers of cars were booked for drunken driving while more than 50 were drivers of twowheelers and one goods truck driver was also hauled up. The drive continued from 10 p.m to 3 a.m.
The fourth Metropolitan Magistrate warned violators on the first day that if they were caught indulging in drunken driving for a second time, they could end up in jail. Some also had their driving licence suspended for two months. Ashok Kumar said cases reported from Jubilee Hills, Road No 36 and No 1 in Banjara Hills, Green Lands, Begumpet, Secunderabad, Raj Bhavan road, NTR Marg, Necklace road and Telugu Talli flyover.
