KOCHI: The Udayamperoor village is all set to get a full-fledged public library all for itself. The Free Rural Public Library, with a stocking of nearly 5,000 books, will be inaugurated at 6 pm on Saturday.Excise Minister K Babu will preside over the function. Justice V R Krishna Iyer will be the chief guest.The library will have books in English and Malayalam covering subjects like literature, religion, life renewal, health, science, arts, philosophy, law, politics, economics, social sciences etc.There will also be special sections for women, children and senior citizens. The reference section will have encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases and books on various subjects. A special feature of the library is the subject-wise press clippings collected over a period of time.Moreover, the library will host intellectual and cultural activities every Sunday.Various clubs like Children’s Arts Club, Einstein Science Club, Vallathol Literary Club, Tansen Music Club and other groups will be functioning at the library.The library is situated in Satgamaya, Puthenpurakkal buildings, near the Udayamperoor Synodal Church facing the Tripunithura-Vaikom road. A mobile library is also planned.
