PUDUCHERRY: Union Minister V Narayanasamy, on Sunday, said that the AINRC’s election manifesto would be burnt in all the constituencies of Puducherry if they did not implement the promises made in it within the next three months.Talking to reporters after flagging off Rajiv Jyothi Yatra, he said that the Puducherry administration was in shambles and the ruling party had betrayed the people by not fulfilling the promises made during elections.Retrenchment of nearly 5,000 daily wage workers, the suicide of one such worker and non-spending of over 43 per cent of Central funds for schemes were some of the “achievements” of the government in the past one year, he said.The Union Minister has said that the government had not yet enhanced the old age pension. They also failed to disburse education fees to students selected through CENTAC, laptops to medical and engineering students and washing machines, as promised in the election manifesto.The government had failed to implement new welfare schemes and was not bothered about the development of the UT, he added.Narayanasamy said that the Chief Minister was busy appointing chairmen for corporations and PSUs that did not function properly.Alleging kickbacks and bribes in the appointments, Narayanasamy demanded an inquiry into the alleged irregularities.The Congress would agitate against the ruling party and would not rest till they were ousted from power, he added.On the Sri Lankan issue, he said the Congress was keen on welfare of the Lankan Tamils. He said some political parties did not send their representatives to Sri Lanka in the all-party delegation. The Rajiv Jyothi Yatra, led by S S Prakasam, a leader of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, is being held to pay homage to the late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.The yatra, meant to spread the message of national integration, was flagged off from Puducherry by Narayanasamy in the presence of Opposition leader V Vaithilingam, PCC chief A V Subramanian, party MLA K Lakshminarayanan, former ministers Pedhaperumal, Kandasamy and INTUC leader Ravichandran.
