All set for Ganesh idol immersion today

HYDERABAD: As many as 2,500 GHMC staff, over 100 garbage trucks and sweeping machines have been deployed at NTR Marg, Tank Bund and en route the main Ganesh idol procession for upkeep of the city on Sunday.Hundreds of workers and sweepers have also been deployed from MJ Market to Liberty Circle, Karbala Maidan to RP Road, Afzalgunj to MJ Market and Charminar to Afzalgunj.Base camps have been set up at NTR Marg and Tank Bund.The base camps will function round-the-clock on Sunday and Monday, GHMC commissioner MT Krishna Babu said on the eve of Ganesh idol immersion.As many as 92 swimmers (two swimmers per crane) have also been deployed at NTR Marg, Tank Bund, Durgam Cheruvu, Kukatpally, Safilguda Saroornagar tanks to avoid any untoward incident.Special lighting has been arranged at a cost of `50 lakh to illuminate the procession route.Mobile toilets have been set up at NTR Marg, Tank Bund and Charminar.A control room has been set up at the GHMC head office with phone numbers (9704601866, 040- 23222107, 1253 and 155503).Zonal commissioners will ensure proper coordination among various wings of GHMC in the smooth conduct of idol immersion.About 25 vehicles will be provided for three days to clear debris on route.
