All state Museums just a click away

MYSORE: Thanks to an initiative of the Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, all it will take to get to the different museums of Karnataka from now on will be a mere click.The directorate, which is all set to launch its website www.karnatakaarchaeology.org on December 24, will enable people to have a 360-degree virtual tour of the photographs and outdoor stills of all state museums. The website will feature photographs of 15 museums, including those in Dharwad, Kamalapur in Bellary district, Mangalore, Bangalore, Belgaum, Kodagu, Raichur, Hassan, Gadag, Gulbarga, Chitradurga, Shimoga, Mysore and Venkatappa Art Gallery in Bangalore.The virtual tour is accompanied with audio commentary in English and Kannada, and is designed to give an actual feel of the museum itself.Also, details of employees working with the directorate and a list of its publications,  in addition to copies of the Karnataka Ancient and Historical Monuments and Archaeological Sites Remains Act, 1961, Karnataka Treasure Trove Act, 1962, and provisions of RTI will be available in the website.“The photographs of 800 protected monuments will be loaded to the website soon, said head of the Directorate Dr R Gopal.
