ELURU: Following the writ petitions filed by Chhattisgarh and Orissa governments over the Polavaram project, an expert committee appointed by the Supreme Court inspected the progress of works of the project here on Monday.The expert committee led by M Gopalakrishnan also conducted a review meeting with project officials at Rajahmundy prior to their visit to Polavaram. Speaking on the occasion, Gopalakrishnan said that they were on a two-day inspection strating on Monday. The committee would submit its report to the Apex Court within two months, he said.Members of the committee and Central Water Commission who visited Polavaram include SP Kankaran, Krishna Godavari Basin organisation, CE Haqee, EN Wakpanjar, UK Mathur, Anil Jain, SK Sibal, RK Kanodia, NN Ram, Chatisgarh accountant general VVS Murthy, West Godavari collector G Vani Mohan.Earlier, the committee members studied the project map and went around a photo exhibition on Polavarm project. The committee will be visiting the villages in West Godavari district those are likely to be submerged with the coming up of the project on Tuesday.
