New Delhi: Delhi BJP on Friday came down heavily on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and alleged that he was creating new controversies and preparing to again "run away" from his responsibilities on the "pretext" of constitutional crisis in the national capital.
Earlier on Friday, in a frontal attack on Modi government, Kejriwal accused it of trying to run Delhi through "backdoor" to protect the corrupt and said it had "back-stabbed" the people of the city by issuing a notification "siding" with the Lt Governor.
"After coming to power, the way in which Kejriwal is acting in childish manner shows that he cannot fulfil the promises made to the people neither today nor in the next five years and hence he is creating new controversies and preparing to leave the Government on the pretext of constitutional crisis," Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay said.
Upadhyay also said that Kejriwal has the experience of working as CM, is well educated and before contesting elections this time he was well aware about the powers of the elected Government in Delhi.
"How strange it is that previously Kejriwal had resigned on the issue of Lokpal only after one and a half month this time he is preparing to run away from his responsibility on the pretext of Lt Governor," the BJP leader added.
Hours after the Home Ministry issued the gazette notification saying it was not mandatory for the LG to consult the Chief Minister on matters like appointment of bureaucrats, Kejriwal said it showed the nervousness of BJP and the Centre over the anti-corruption efforts by his government.
