Khap panchayats believe in dictatorship, India still a male-dominated country: HJC’s Hisar candidate

Hisar: In the battleground of Hisar, the Haryana Janhit Congress has fielded a new entrant Gautam Sardana for the Assembly elections. Sardana is expected to give a tough fight to sitting Congress MLA Savitri Jindal.

In a door-to-door campaign, Sardana said, "Will win by 20,000 votes. No development work was taken by the Congress government as it was busy in corruption."

When asked about the strict rulings of Khap panchayats for girls, Sardana said, "It is Khap panchayats' dictatorship. I do not agree with this. It is the mentality of the people. India is still a male-dominated country."

Sardana had last time contested as an Independent and is in political arena since college days. "I have joined politics to serve people. I have contested elections for students' union as well."

On the question of joining hands with Kuldeep Singh Bishnoi's HJC, he said, "Like me, Kuldeep Bishnoi is also a fighter. We both want to work for the betterment of the state."

"If voted to power, I will resolve the issue of water, electricity, traffic jams, bad roads," he added.
