Aspire to be employers than employees, youth told

India needs more entrepreneurs and youth should aspire to become employers than employees, said Governor K Rosaiah.

Speaking after honouring three entrepreneurs with Second ChinniKrishna Innovation Awards here on Wednesday night, the Governor said many youth with high knowledge and potential were in search of a path towards starting new ventures which bloomed out of innovation and creativity.

There was a need to guide and motivate  youngsters, he added.

The Governor earlier honoured three entrepreneurs from different fields. They included A Mohammed Ibrahim of Brainz Infotech, R K Saran Raja of Japeva Engineering and Rangarajan Nadhamuni of Sriram Agro Processing Unit.

Ibrahim, a native of Villupuram, was selected for the award for his innovation in manufacturing coin-operated vending machines, while Chennai-based Raja was honoured for manufacturing 100 per cent eco-friendly mineral roofing with enhanced weather insulation and water proofing properties. Rangarajan Nadhamuni of Vellore got the award for converting mango waste into mango butter.

With its successful initiation last year, the awards committee this time received 118 applications from across Tamil Nadu. The ChinniKrishnan Innovation Award team then shortlisted 10 best applications based on innovativeness, uniqueness and scalability. C K Ranganathan, managing director of CavinKare, said that the main focus of the award was to mentor these entrepreneurs in business fronts like assistance in patenting, fund sourcing, marketing and human resource skills.
